He is the Good in Us

#3. I know that I have not posted a devotion in awhile, so please forgiving me for not updating it. I have had something laid recently upon my heart that I feel the Lord wants me to share. Going back to college was a very stressful thing for me. I had to make sure that I was organized and that I finished my homework. Through the thick of things I realized how sinful the world is. There is such a culture difference in my hometown to the one at school. I began to feel the temptation of sin working its way into my life. That is when the Lord presented me with a verse that really gave me confidence. Read Romans 7:7-25. In here, it speaks of how we try to do good in our life, but then we end up doing what we hate to do, which in these cases is sin. But I found hope in one verse of this passage, Romans 7:20 - Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. What this means is that when we do what we absolutely hate to do, it is not doing it at all but the sin in us. We have to realize that nothing we do is good, unless it is done in the name of Christ because the only good we can do is the good that God does through us. My one and only example of this relates to Lord of the Rings. Boromir tries to take the ring from Frodo to do good with it. But what he did not realize is that the ring is pure evil, and no good can come out of it. Nothing good can come out of our sin, only out of the goodness of God. Please pester me to update this often :-D Keep the Faith and Follow Jesus
